My Personal Blog 2021.

Shock rebuild time.

Now that Winter is here, I can do some shock rebuilding maintenance on my full suspension mountain bike and mount the studs on the fatbike.

Michigan vs Tarleton State Texans.

Our first Basketball game of the season, Michigan won 65 to 54.

Michigan vs Northwestern, Michigan wins 33-7.

April and I had a good time at the game. A women fell down on the stairs and couldn’t get up. I could not believe no one came and tossed them out, her friend did get her back on her feet after some time.About 45min later three guys couldn’t find there seat and one of them almost fell into my lap. I just don’t understand why anyone would spend that much money for tickets to not remember any of it the next day.

Michigan vs Northern illinois, Michigan wins 63-10.

Awesome weather for a game.

Sleeping Bear Dunes, Michigan.

Spent a couple of days hiking around the Sleeping Bear Dunes, really nice to take some time off work!

Red tailed hawk.

The office I was rebuilding a steam trap on a radiator had a red tailed hawk outside the window. The bird had a incredible  wingspan, a real thing of beauty.

2020 Specialized Carbon Stumpjumper.

I told myself I would never buy a carbon bike, but after having trouble with my Trek fuel Ex 8 and finding this bike in stock, I couldn’t help myself. It’s fast in the corners and climbs hills crazy fast, really happy so far. 🙂

One of the stand out features is less fatigue and I’m able to ride back to back days.  This is something I could never do on my aluminum alloy bikes. I logged my longest ride on this bike and rode the day before, it’s working for me to say the least.

Aberdeen Bike Chelsea, Michigan.

The bottom bolt on my shock snapped on my 2018 Trek Fuel Ex 8 out on the trail, not wanting to miss any riding I ordered parts from two local bikes shops near me. I figured when the second order comes in, it can be a spare so I’m never in this situation again. Aberdeen had my parts to me in 4 business days and I was back riding! Mike at Aberdeen was incredible, he ordered extra parts in case I needed them and I was back to riding in no time, I have never been treated so well!

I really think the shock mount for the Trek Fuel is a extremely bad design and I feel this will be my last Fuel. I have tried several brands with plenty of down time and so far my specialized gravel bike has needed no mechanical attention (4 years old).

5/1/2021 My oldest Seth graduates from the University of Michigan today, so happy.

Outer banks North Carolina vacation.

We rented a condo on the coast of North Carolina near Rodanthe, enjoyed getting away! I forgot how hard running outside is on the body, so used to running on a treadmill with a cushion deck. So many things to do and awesome food to eat!

My sisters new build.

My first LGA 1200 socket build with M2 drive, amazed by how fast this machine is.

Seth is attending U of M for graduate school.

My oldest Seth is graduating this Spring from the University of Michigan. We found out last night he was accepted to the U of M graduate school where he will pursue a teaching certificate to teach secondary education with a partial scholarship. I am extremely happy right now!

I received my second shot on 2/5/2021, can’t wait until it’s available for everyone. My arm was a little sore until I did my morning run and lifted weights, feel solid now and ready for work!

January-Hiking on the weekends

Expectations for 2021

In 2021 I hope to get the Covid 19 shot and continue hiking with the wife, something we started in 2019. Maybe get a little more mountain biking in this year. In 2019 pretty much only left the house for work due to the pandemic. I can’t believe that people in the U.S.A continue to travel during the pandemic when we have the most cases/deaths in the world. Curious how many more deaths we will see now that Christmas is over.

My oldest is going to graduate from University of Michigan in the Spring and I hope my youngest continues attending classes at W.C.C.

I guess I will see what happens.
